Long time no see!

Okay so I know I'm bad at blogging but that aside, let me get you up to speed. The 16th of May is when I will be competing in the Brathay Windermere Marathon, I say competing, I'll only be racing against my own watch and plan a sub four hour time for completion. The training has started and I'm just getting back into plodding around again on small 6 milers to get my fitness back up. It shouldn't be too many weeks before I am back over ten miles.

The half marathon last October put the MdS squarely in perspective I was surprisingly tired after it due to the absence of training in the 3 weeks before because of injury.

I will not be pushing myself as hard this time, I have my own training schedule and will not be forcing the improvements like last time...

Peace

First Ultra Indentified

All being well the first ultra marthon I will take part in, in preparation for the Marathon des Sables will be the Lakeland 50, which takes place in the Lake district at the end of July 2010.  The other good news is that I have managed to convince two people to do it with me, Joe Lyon and Nick Grove.  More to follow. Entries do not open until mid-September.

6 weeks to go

There is about six weeks to go now until the Leicester Half Marathon.  This is the first event I am taking part in in preparation for the Marathon des Sables in 2012.  Training is coming along well now, and I have spent the last month entirely injury free.  I have also lost about 4 kilos along the way, I am still only running 30 miles a week, with my long run being 10 miles.  I am purposely taking it steady as I want to remain fit.  I think a large issue before was that I was training too hard.  Every run had to be max effort, where as now  I am disciplined enough to have an 'easy' run early in the week as opposed to thrashing myself every day.  My goal is to run the Leicester Half at 8min/mile I think I am on target for that...

Plodding on! ish...

Well, I have finally (I hope) shaken off any injuries, the last month has been demoralising interms of not being able to get into a routine.
